I think that most of the Type 1 Diabetes Online Community is currently in Lake Buena Vista, Florida for the 2013 Friends for Life Conference.
I know that when I write a blog post, it should be meaningful to me regardless of whether anyone else reads it.
But I know that everyone is in Florida and no one is going to read this. So blah, blah, blah.
A year ago I would have thought that there was nothing for me at the FFL conference. But now I think that maybe I should go next year.
I know you feel. While much of the online community is meeting offline, there’s not much going on in the online world this week.
Last week I thought the same as you, that I should consider going this year (knowing that, in all likeliness, I wouldn’t because of family/work obligations). I even saw it pop up in the calendar on my phone this past week. But you know what? I get a healthy dose of diabetes every day — I’m not sure how I’d deal with going to FFL and overdosing on it.
I would just love to go but can’t afford it. It’s a shame that $ is a factor in these situations.
I want to go so bad, but it’s so expensive. =(
Laddie, you would have an AMAZING time at the conference. All of you would. I too am sad that money is a factor. Diabetes Scholars Foundation do scholarships for adults with type 1 – they actually help a lot of people get there. It might be worth looking into.
